I had been working as assistant professor of English Education in three colleges of education for seven years till 2014. Being a teacher educator for ELT, I tried my level best to make my student teachers to get familiar with various English Language Teaching techniques, methods and approaches. I gave importance not to the theory but to the practical. I gave chances to my every student to develop his / her English Language Teaching skills through microteaching. Immediate feedback and repeated exposure to my model teaching really chiseled them as good English teachers. There is no such a satisfied happiness in this world than the one which I get when hearing my students are becoming inspiring teachers especially those who are working in private schools. I feel very proud to be a student of English Literature (yes, every lover of literature is a student till his death) when they say, "Sir, you inspired us with your admiration for English Literature and and so we are inspiring our students". They explained, what in me inspired them," Apart from the syllabus you made us to taste the literature which we didn't during our B.A & M.A. degree courses. You made us to realise that language teaching is not to impart knowledge but to cultivate the language habits by developing the language skills which can only be done through Literature. Only the literature lovers can make the others to love the literature . This love among students will induce creativity. The attempts to create something on their own will develop their language skills so easily. Practice perfects the expression of the language user". I am very happy to realise that I have moulded at least few best English teachers.
After entering into the government service as an English P.G. Teacher in a Govt. Higher Secondary School, I am not able to find such students who love literature to feel my gushing admiration for poetry and poets. We cannot blame them because they focus on mainly the subjects rather than languages. They study languages just to secure marks, not to develop their language skills. They don't have time either. When I try to share my literary opinion with my colleagues, they have no mind to hear me because of so called divisions. (I hope you will understand what I mean by divisions). So I have opened this blog to share my thoughts, opinion and admiration with those who wish.
